Week # 9 Already!

Can you believe we’re already at Week #9? The season has flown by, and the end of our regular dual meet schedule is approaching quickly!

Last week was a special one as we celebrated our seniors and secured the West side #1 Conference spot. What does that mean? We’ll be swimming for the NWSC Championship next Tuesday, October 14th, against Champlin Park. This will be our final conference meet of the season, and what a great place to be—competing for first or second in the conference!

This week we travel to St. Michael-Albertville on Tuesday, October 7th. The meet begins at 5:30pm, and as of right now the bus will leave at 3:30pm. Stay tuned for bus times, as the STMA coach just emailed saying the pool isn't open for warm-up until 4:30pm (we typically have and hour and a half before the meet so I am checking if we can get in, any earlier).  I will let athletes know if our bus time shifts at all. She also let me know that they will NOT have concessions and you can buy your tickets at the door. We’ll be adjusting our line-up a bit to give athletes the chance to swim different events ahead of both the True Team Meet this Saturday and the conference crossover meet next Tuesday. Brainerd is once again hosting the True Team Meet as well as the 8AA Section Meet later this fall, so this will be a great chance to race in the same pool as the Section Meet. The True Team Meet has limited entries (4 per event, including relays). A preliminary roster will be posted Monday—entries are due that evening, and I’ll finalize the line-up after practice.

As we head into October, we continue to battle the usual fall illnesses. Please keep your athlete home if they’re not feeling well—we want to do our best to prevent further spread. And as always, remind the girls to take care of themselves as the season intensifies.

Here’s the schedule for the week.

Wishing you a wonderful Sunday evening,
Coach Odegard
