Katherine started her competitive swimming career in the seventh grade and has been around pools as either a swimmer, coach, or swim parent ever since. Both of her children have competed in swimming. She and her husband live in Coon Rapids with their schnauzer Frank. In her free time she tends her garden, keeps bees, loves to craft and hear good stories.
Corey joined the ERGSD team as an Assistant Swim Coach in 2024. He is originally from East Grand Forks, MN and has called Elk River home since 2000. Corey is a System Protection Specialist at Great River Energy. He along with his wife, Shannon; daughters: Gracie and Sophia; bonus boy: Knox, the Goldendoodle enjoy spending time at the lake, golfing, vacationing to warm weather and their annual MN State Fair adventure.
Although a multi-sport athlete himself, Corey was not a swimmer or diver. His interest in swimming began over ten years ago when his daughter Sophia joined the sport. Through the years Corey has been able to speak with and observe top swim coaches not only at the high school and club levels but as well as former Olympians. Corey has a natural ability to easily identify and provide corrections to establish proper stroke technique. He takes interest in working with swimmers to teach the best and most efficient ways to move through the water. A true competitor himself, he could not turn down the challenge presented to him in 2024 by the team to complete a 100 IM. This event will hold a permanent pool record for the most rests between and during strokes. Corey says the girls make it look easy and that is proof of their hard work and dedication to the sport. He is proud to be part of the team and watch these girls work towards and crush their own personal goals.
I am the proud father of seven kids and as of May of 2020, a resident of Zimmerman. I have a passion for coaching athletes to their highest potential by building trust and cresting a fun and relaxed atmposphere while still challenging them to push past their self-imposed limitations. I live to see athletes laugh and smile because they achieved more than they thought they could.
As far as myself, I am a two time state qualifier and finalist in Indiana. I have coached 7 seasons of Men’s and Women’s Diving in Burnsville. During my Burnsville tenure, three school records were broken and athletes qualified for state six times. I was also a three year Burnsville High School track and field throwing coach with three state finalists and one school record set.
