Week #7 - Already in Progress!

WEEK #7:

Happy Monday! So sorry this is late! The weekend was packed… the feeling when you knew you were forgetting something… and it comes to you Monday Morning 😊.

Week #6 brought us a win over Osseo, even with illnesses affecting the team. Strong swims and dives secured the points we needed, with the victory clinched after the 200 Free Relay! One of the things I love most about this group is the pride they bring not just through competition, but through their character—BOTH teams cheered for one another throughout the meet, which was wonderful to see.

Looking ahead, Week #7 will be a big one as we face Armstrong, by far our toughest dual meet opponent. We’ve already shown what we can do when everyone steps up, and I’m eager to see the team rise to the challenge once again.

To perform at our best, we need everyone to be healthy. Please encourage your athlete to get plenty of rest (don’t burn the candle at both ends), stay hydrated, and eat nutritiously to replenish vitamins and minerals after training. As we continue to battle the usual fall illnesses, please keep athletes’ home if they are sick (fever, diarrhea, vomiting), and remind them to dress warmly after practice—fall is in the air! Please reach out to me if you are unsure!

We shift to early practices this week, which is always a welcome change! On Friday, due to Elk River Homecoming and the parade (School Street will close around 4:00–4:15 p.m.), pick-up off Proctor will be the best option. Practice that day will be a rapid-fire workout, usually an hour or less. Athletes will be able to get in the water between 2:30–2:45 p.m. (as soon as a coach arrives) and will move through the workout as a lane at their own pace.

Please note: do not leave school early—come as soon as you can after regular dismissal. All athletes will be finished by 4:15 p.m. They may use the bathrooms to get ready if they’d like to head straight to the game rather than going home first. I’ll also review Friday’s plan with the athletes during the week.

It’s hard to believe we’re already approaching the halfway point of the season! With just five busy weeks of regular competition left, championship season is right around the corner—JV Conference on October 25th and Sections on November 7th–8th. Each athlete will compete in one of these, and the season will be here before we know it!

We’re excited for a great Week #7!
